The action of ODDY-C is used to feed the populations of the Kivyuka area via the rehabilitation of the Nyantazi gravity conveyance. The action will more specifically affect 2 primary schools, 1 high school, 1 health center and the Kivyuka market.

Beneficiaries of the project

  • Beneficiaries of standpipes and awareness campaigns on hygiene and sanitation:
  • School of Manyoni1 and 2: Due to lack of classes, they are divided into 2 teaching groups, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The children eat at home and bring water from the surrounding developed sources.
  • Kivyuka Communal High School: The high school has about 450 students.
  • Kivyuka Health Center: The center receives an average of 100 patients a day.
  • The final beneficiaries are the residents of Musigati commune who have improved their access to water.

Results achieved

  •  Access to drinking water in the municipality of Musigati is improved

Rehabilitation of the Nyantazi water supply, which serve around 800 households.

  •  Hygiene and sanitation conditions in the municipality of Musigati are improved

Establishment of school awareness campaigns for good water management, hygiene and sanitation at the two primary schools and high school beneficiaries of the project.

  •  Water management capacities of users and local stakeholders are improved through the establishment of management committees.

Establishment and capacity building of  6 water management committees trained in hygiene and sanitation

Capacity building of the Municipal Water Board: training in organizational and financial management
